Studio Portraits

Dramatic and Artistic

Most people have a camera, everyone has a smartphone with a camera, and social media accounts for more than 500 million photos posted online every day. Most of those images are quick snatches of a moment in time that people want to share with friends, family, and even strangers. These captured moments are all part of the frantic times we live in.

Wouldn't it be nice to take some time out to create a really special image of yourself or someone you love? An image that clearly shows itself to be far more than a social media upload. An image that captures the subject perfectly, with beautiful lighting and editing to bring out their very best.

Studio photography isn't just a matter of sitting the subject in front of some bright lights and clicking the shutter. Lighting can be sculpted and fashioned to accentuate features, to add mystery and elegance by means of shadows and highlights.

Lighting and backgrounds can be used to create all manner of image styles. From dark and moody like an Old Master's painting to a bright and stark image like a 70's fashion shot. All things are possible, you simply need to choose how you would like to appear.

The studio environment can appear a little intimidating but we can help you through that. You can take as much time as you like to relax, get to know each other, take some practice shots that will allow you to ease into the idea of posing, and get a feel for what the experience is all about. At the end of the shoot, you should have a great many images available from which you can select your favourites.

Post-Production

Where the magic happens......

The work doesn't end with the final shot. This is where the post-production comes into effect.

Skin blemishes like pimples and acne are temporary so why would you want them to be a permanent feature in your portrait. The art of retouching, and it is an art, takes care of those issues. Additionally, like a good make-up job, post-production can address shiny patches of skin, stray hairs, eye veins, and a whole host of other distractions. It is up to each client how far they would like to take the retouching. One thing for certain is that the finished image will still be you; simply you at your very best.
