The first Saturday in March is the annual date for the Beaufort Hunt Point to Point race event. It was a bitterly cold day (which explains why I didn't photograph all of the races. But at least it stayed dry which was a blessing. Yesterday I charged up both sets of camera batteries and selected the lenses I would be using for this event. Upon arrival, I discovered that I had left my main camera body at home (aaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhhh). That would be the camera with animal eye-tracking that was so perfect for shooting horse racing. Fortunately, I had my backup camera body with me so all was not lost. This was my first opportunity to get up close and personal with the racing. I have previously attended Chantilly races, Lady's Day, in Paris, and I was able to obtain a limited press pass but it only allowed me into the public areas, not alongside the race track where the sports reporters get to stand. So this was a much more interesting event which I will be sure to attend next year.
